How it all started

Formally Cosmo Film & Photography, the story of how Beyond the Frame came to be is very near and dear to my heart. I consider myself a multipotentialite, a term used to define those who excel in many different fields. At the time of COSMO’s inception, I was attending Art School at Louisiana State University. I had previously been studying electrical engineering until I decided to change majors and pursue a path that would stimulate my artistic endeavors. At this time in my life, I still lived under the impression that I should be good at ONE thing. Engineering was that one thing until photography became much more intriguing to me. While in an evening class one day, I decided to get up an leave. No one had upset me. I wasn’t late for an important meeting. Nothing had gone wrong at all. Something was pulling me outside. I stepped out of the building preparing to descend the stairs on the exterior, and as I looked towards the levee, the breathtaking sunset nearly brought me to tears. I immediately started running to my car to get my camera to make it to the levee in time. The moment I reached to top, I snapped the photo you see above, and was instantly in love. I turned around and realized just how far and how fast I had run, just for a picture. But it wasn’t just for picture. It was for the entire rush of energy that brought me to that place. I knew then that it was a moment I would never forget, and continuously live to create.

Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better.
